If your garden looks like mine at this time of year, it's pretty "green". The July peak has passed and the re-bloomers have not yet matured.
Now is a good time to add perennials to your garden - plenty of time for the plants to get a good root system established before winter - and next spring you'll have a more mature plant ready to go. Don't forget the perennial phrase - "First year/sleep, second year/creep, third year/leap". You'll see that this is really true.
